Manchester is going all haunted this year with it first ever Halloween event taking place around the city centre, with the likes of Harvey Nichols turning green and plenty of events for the witches and Frankenstein to partake in, also expect some anti Halloween ghost busters to be out and about.

Ghostwatch: 25th Anniversary Screening With Live Q&A

On October 31st 1992, at 9.25pm, a BBC television show aired that shocked and mentally scarred millions of viewers for life. This iconic show was an originator of ‘alternative news’ in its most sinister form and its first broadcast lead to 30,000 calls logged within 1 hour, the show being banned for around a decade and sleepless nights across the country. This show was GHOSTWATCH.

Gorilla is celebrating 25 years of Ghostwatch with a special screening and live Q&A. If you fancy blowing the cobwebs away be caspers guest at Gorilla in Manchester.

On October 30th, for it’s 25th Anniversary, Pilot Light TV Festival will be paying homage to the controversial show by screening the entire first episode and inviting key creators and cast members to discuss their work on the show, the traumatic impact it had across the country and its place in Television history.

Joining Pilot Light at this very special event for a Q&A will be creator Stephen Volk, director Lesley Manning, and the writer/director of Ghostwatch: Behind the Curtains, Rich Lawden.

Halloween at HOME: Hocus Pocus

Don’t miss artist Filthy Luker’s momentous monster at one (un)lucky Manchester store and follow the Day of the Dead-style parade with puppets, street performers and freaky dancing.

Head to the Capital FM main stage for DJs, a Canine Catwalk, Goth Fashion Show and the chance to strut your costumed stuff. Get the whole family involved in the biggest fancy dress-up in Halloween history to win.

Halloween Fun Run 2017

Run, run there a ghost behind you, watch where you going as you might end up at Heaton Park taking part in the Halloween Fun Run 2017.

Whether you want to walk, jog or run the easy 5km route it’s entirely up to you, but watch out for the spooky residents of Heaton Park that will be around the course on the look out for you – especially around ‘The Tunnel’!

Mums, dads, children and grandparents alike will be taking part in this fun event where you will start and finish outside of the Grade 1 listed Heaton Hall, where lots of activity will be there to entertain you including the ‘spooky sound system’ and some ‘revolting refreshments’.

Stranger Things: Halloween 80s Party

Over the years there has surely behind some strange going ons in our lovely city either in the day or night and this event is no stranger to Manchester club scene.

‘Strangest Things’ is the 80s themed immersive club night influenced by the Netflix TV series, Stranger Things. Sound-tracked strictly by vinyl records featured in and inspired by the show.

Following last year’s sold out UK Tour, Strangest Things returns to The Ruby Lounge to take you to the upside down, with new twists and surprises.

Halloween Pop-up Cinema at Victoria Baths

Tickets go on sale at noon (12pm) on Wednesday 27th September. 

On 27th and 28th October, we are transforming one of Manchester’s most impressive buildings – Victoria Baths – into a spooky, but beautiful, Halloween cinema experience. We will be showing one of the best Halloween films of the 90’s – Hocus Pocus, The Addams Family and Beetlejuice! Dress up in your greatest Halloween attire, bring blankets and watch a classic Halloween film in a stunning location.

We will be joined by DJ Matt Hydes, who will be spinning some spooky tunes before the film, plus street food traders The Blue Caribou Canteen, Mac Daddies and Dim Sum Su. The Village Screen bar will be open throughout the event serving prosecco, wine, cocktails, craft beers, soft drinks, hot drinks, popcorn and fresh doughnuts.

Timings: Doors to the event will open at 16.00 with the film starting at 17.30.

How to buy tickets: Tickets go on sale HERE on Wednesday 27th September at midday (12pm).

Ticket prices: Pool level tickets are priced at £15.00 for adults and £12.00 for students, children and seniors (over 60). Balcony level tickets are priced at £13.00 for adults and £10.00 for students, children and seniors (over 60). Online booking fees apply.

Minimum age: Hocus Pocus is classified PG and this event is suitable for all ages. We are recommending a minimum age of 6 for this event to ensure your little ones can get the best view possible of the film. We will reserve some seats close to the screen for smaller children and their families.
